I once had an agent who, when he learned I had lived in a communal house in the early seventies said, "Oh, that's great, you should write about it." in time, I did, and when I gave him the first five chapters he said, "You can't do communal house. No one cares what happened back then." "But you said..." "Did I? Huh."
