may you find your sacred space

I have given my students the holdiay assignment of finding and writing in a sacred place. partly, this 'lesson' derives from my classes reading transcendalists and joseph campbell; partly it comes out of my own long-held desire for that 'cabin in the woods by moving water'. partly, it is just another way to pay attention to the voice within.

I know that, essentially, the sacred place exists within us--that monks can find it even in the midst of great suffering and raging war. but I am not yet enlightened, and so I accept the spiritual and creative inspiration that nature and environment provide.

I wish everyone a sacred place in 2008.

What a beautiful assignment! I think I'm going to pretend I'm a member of your class.

Yes, a lovely assignment. Count me in.

And I hope your surgery went well and you're home recovering by now! Thinking of you...

I love this idea! I used to write under an oak tree in the national forest behind our house....but since the fires, the national forest is closed and I'm searching for another space too.
